This new-build low-energy house was designed by and for Matthew Wintersgill and uses a timber frame with ‘breathing wall’ construction, recycled news print insulation and a permanent ventilation system which provides fresh air to all rooms.

Rainwater is stored and recycled to provide water for toilets, washing machine and the garden. A condensing gas boiler powers an underfloor heating system. The house also features a concrete spiral stair, cantilevered glass balustrades and a built in vacuum system.
